Uma das bandas pop minhas preferidas da década de 80. Embora com bastante sucesso, este grupo irlandês nunca foi um fenómeno de popularidade como os seus compatriotas U2 ou os ingleses Duran Duran. O seu álbum de estreia, em 1985 (esse ano!), ao qual pertence este Holding back the years, esteve nos tops bastante tempo. Hoje, esta canção não é das minhas preferidas pois, entretanto, fizeram mais e melhor; ao contrário da maioria, a banda de Mick Hucknall conseguiu manter um nível constante de qualidade ao longo de mais de 20 anos. A prova de como é possível fazer boa música num registo comercial.
